Bridgette of Madison County aka Micah McCain is once again on his/her way to
making "their" mark in Hollywood as shown in the cutting-edge documentary
for AMC that followed the Los Angeles based Actor/Entertainer along with
four others trying to make it in Hollywood.
As part of American Movie Classic's commitment to bringing a fresh voice and
point of view to it's viewers, the network developed a monthly series that
takes in-depth looks into Hollywood's evolving culture, creativity and
business. Beginning in July of 2003,and still continuing, THE AMC PROJECT
presented unexpected and thought provoking viewpoints on various aspects of
life in Hollywood. Among these, in August 2003, "Gay Hollywood" premiered.
It is and was an informative, entertaining and often moving glimpse through
the eyes of Micah, Morgan, Lance, Alan and Robbie.
The camera crews and producers followed McCain and his quest for stardom via
Bridgette of Madison County for over five months, covering everything from
drag shows and network meetings to family holidays and dating...or lack
there of...
"It's the most fantastic thing I've ever been a part of," McCain said.
Having been called the gayest town in America, Hollywood, it's dreams and
ambitions are broken down and experienced through interviews, round-table
discussions and peeks into the world of gay power players. This documentary
takes on issue of sexuality, discrimination, the "gay mafia", social
dynamics and politics, not to mention competitiveness, drama and all out
hysteria at times.
This incisive, unconventional exploration is produced by World of Wonder.
